Maine Animal Coalition: News - LD 2010 Passes Maine's House and Senate and Becomes Final Resolve

LD 2010 Passes Maine's House and Senate and Becomes Final Resolve

LD 2010, formerly entitled "An Act to Ensure Ethical and Humane Dog Breeding in the State" is now entitled "Resolve, Directing the Commissioner of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources to Review and Make Recommendations Regarding the Regulation of Dog and Cat Breeding Facilities." This bill, which has also been referred to as the "puppy mill bill," was recently passed in the Maine Legislature's House of Representatives and Senate and was singed into law by the Governor on April 15, 2008.

Maine Animal Coalition is hopeful that the interested parties coming together to review Maine's animal welfare laws as a result of this Resolve will make some constructive recommendations for change that will improve the lives of Maine's dogs and cats.
