Private Pet Cremation now Available

A Litchfield couple, who lost their beloved dog Fluke in May 2003, has opened a private crematory to offer its assistance to other pet owners who have suffered a loss. The idea was born after the couple's experience with cremation services and their deceased dog's five day "storage period" in a chest freezer left them upset and dissatified with the options available for pet owners at such a traumatic time.

Care and Dignity Even in Death

Until recently, pet owners have had little choice as to their involvement in their pet's care when their furry family member have passed. Fluke's Aftercare welcomes this involvement with their pet cremation services. This will not only help in the grieving process but provides the pet owner the assurance that the ashes they receive are those and only those of their pet.

Owners who contact them directly will be offered a variety of choices to help make what can be a most emotional time a bit easier to bear. Upon arriving, you will be given a description of what to expect in regards to the retort itself. A retort is the proper name for the unit used to cremate the pet. Owners are then offered the opportunity to be as little or as much involved as they would like. They may witness the pet's placement into the retort to assure that their pet is indeed the only pet being cremated. The cremation process varies in time as it is dependant upon the size of the pet. The larger the pet, the longer it will take. Three hours is usually the average from start to completion of the process. Owners can choose to stay throughout the process or simply return at a specified time to pick up their pets ashes. Fluke's Aftercare will also pick up the pet and/or deliver the ashes to the pet owner's home.
