News: Outcome in "Bandit" Dog Killing Case, Arundel, Maine
Last June 8, 2007 a small rat terrier named Bandit was killed while sitting in his owner's truck outside of Bentley's Pub in Arundel.
On February 28, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. in the York County Superior Court, Alfred, Maine, Michael Morin pled guilty to Aggravated Animal Cruelty, a felony. Following a Victim's Statement by Ron Pelletier, Bandit's owner, the Judge sentenced Morin to 2 years in County Jail with all but 8 months suspended, 2 years probation with conditions, and $875.00 restitution. An additional charge of breaking and entering was dropped.
While nothing will bring Bandit back, it is encouraging to see violence against animals being taken seriously by law enforcement and the community.
