Get Involved: Calendar of Events: Pull Events Commission Meetings
The Pull Events Commission adopts rules establishing the qualifications and procedure for the certification of pull superintendents and assistant pull superintendents and guidelines for dealing with violations of its rules.
It also periodically reviews the statutory rules for pulls and recommends to the Legislature changes as necessary; and gives advice and recommendations to the commissioner on request or as the commission considers necessary.
Lastly, it also coordinates, develops and conducts pull superintendent training seminars.
There are nine members on the Commission. Each is appointed for a two year term. There are no term limits and members represent the public, the Animal Welfare Advisory Commission, a humane organization and owners of ponies, oxen and horses as well as the fair associations.
The meetings take place on Friday afternoon in the Deering Building Room in 319 AMHI Complex in Augusta, Maine, and last 2-3 hours. There are four regularly scheduled meetings per year and additional meetings are scheduled if needed.
The meeting dates are not publicized. For more information and meeting dates and times, please contact Fred Lunt at the Maine Department of Agriculture by email:
